FAQ’s

What makes Quadway Hoops different from other croquet hoops?

Each hoop is built with stainless-steel uprights and distinctive square-section carrots beneath the surface. These square carrots provide exceptional ground stability, ensuring the hoop holds its position firmly even under elite-level play.

This is achieved by removing the upright from the crown, allowing each leg to be refitted in one of its two possible positions. By rotating the leg and re-tightening the screw, clubs and referees can fine-tune the hoop’s effective width while keeping the hoop planted in exactly the same dibber holes, giving a total of four width configurations.

This combination of square carrots for stability and four-way adjustability allows consistent hoop placement, faster setup, and the ability to tailor playing difficulty for club practice, national tournaments, or World Croquet Federation events — all using the same hoop installation.

How do Quadway Hoops work?

Four Adjustable Settings — Fine-Tuned by Leg Rotation.

Quadway Hoops feature a unique four-setting adjustment system that allows precise control of hoop width and playing difficulty. Each upright (leg) can be set in one of two fixed positions using a hex key. Adjusting the leg position alters the width of the hoop, with a total of four different widths that the hoop can be set to.

How Adjustment Works
Use the hex key to loosen the screw on the crown.
Pull the upright downward, rotate the leg to the desired setting.
Re-tighten the screw to lock the upright into its new position.
Always read the inside marks on each leg to confirm your chosen setting.

The Four Adjustment Settings
The final hoop width is created by combining one setting from the left leg and one from the right leg:

Left Leg Options:

  • Normal (3 &3/4)
Produces a slightly wider set for social or normal club play.
  • Tournament (3 & 11/16)
Tightens the left leg by 1/32″, increasing challenge and stability.

Right Leg Options

  • Regular ‘=’
Standard setting with no additional narrowing.
  • Tighter ‘-’
Reduces width by 1/32″, ideal for high-performance or elite events.

SETTING
Normal + Regular – 3 24/32″ (95.3mm)
Normal + Tighter – 3 23/32″ (94.5mm)
Tournament + Regular – 3 22/32″ (93.7mm)
Tournament + Tighter – 3 21/32″ (92.9mm)
Internationally approved tournament croquet ball – 3 20/32″ ± 1/32″ ( 92.1 mm ± 0.8 mm)

What is the best way to maintain Quadway Hoops?
We recommend:

  • Regular cleaning to remove grass and soil
  • Checking width settings periodically (hoops should be adjusted at least once annually – if when adjusting any corrosion is noted on the screws, please refer to the recommendations for maintenance).
  • Storing hoops in a dry place when not in use
  • Avoiding excessive force when installing or removing

With basic maintenance, they will perform consistently across many seasons of play.
