Testimonials
“Quadway Hoops have been a fantastic contribution to top-class croquet – making hoops a real challenge”
“I think Quadway is the best hoop we have in the world currently. In firm ground, there is no hoop that gives a true test the way that Quadway’s do.”
“I’ve had Quadway hoops to practice with at my club ever since I started playing croquet and I think that this has been really important for my development into a high level player in New Zealand. Being able to practice with challenging hoops gives me the
confidence that during a tournament I can run hoops well no matter the conditions, and being able to trust yourself to make any shot necessary is very important as a croquet player. I think this has led to my hoop running ability being one of the major strengths in my game and this was something I really relied on for my victory at the U21 Worlds in Florida. Quadways are the highest quality croquet hoops in the world and for top level competition there’s nothing better.”
“When these hoops 1st came out, I was in the Aus Mac Team and we were told that this was the hoop we would be using in the MacRob. I believe I was the 1st to purchase them in Victoria and I am very happy that I did. My club then purchased 3 sets as we were holding the World GC Championship. My Club members don’t even think about changing the settings as they are continuously on the smallest setting (11/16 -). They have adapted to run the hoop. They find the original hoops easy to run when they go to other clubs.
Not every Club uses Quadway hoops. Those who did buy them found their Croquet improved as the more they used them the more confident they got in running them. This was because, when they went to a club to play a competitive event, which had Quadways, the player struggled and now they find the original hoops easier to run.”
“I became Croquet NZ’s Sport Development Officer at around the time Quadway hoops were made available for WCF approval in mid-2014, then the Ray Atkins’s proof-of-concept version “Atkins Quadway stainless steel hoops”. Over the last decade, Quadway hoops have become the recognised standard for CNZ tournaments and have proved the most popular hoop for general club use and competition across New Zealand.
Design genius and time has almost completely dissolved the earlier club apprehensions around the purchase and use of Quadway hoops. Along with the benefits of the unique design attributes, their value, longevity and suitability, clubs are appreciative of hoop setting consistency, and maintenance of acceptable hoop settings. Initially, the ability to set parallel uprights to any recognised setting without modifying hoop holes was a desirable feature for clubs. But in the field, the settings are rarely changed now. As players have become accustomed, hoops are generally set on the standard 3 11/16 setting and for the most part forgotten about.
The comments from the NZ community of more recent times are solely to do with visibility, and the occasional individual utterances of hoop anxiety from time to time. The latter is a rich resource for coaching support, but the visibility of the stainless-steel hoop can be difficult to see at distance. Some have sighted this a tripping hazard; however, I have no evidence that players are now tripping over hoops with any more regularly than they were in the past.”
